    Where to stay in Nice

We visit Nice a few times each year and never had any other problems nor never felt unsafe there. I would look on it as much safer than Dublin. However, I had my wallet pickpocketed just as I boarded the train from Cannes (Film Festival time) back to Nice a number of years ago. Likewise they...

    Where to stay in Nice

Ave Durante runs up to the train station so if you apartment in near there you can take the 99 express bus from the airport to the station. It costs €6 per person and runs every 30 minutes. It takes 25 minutes each way. A taxi would cost €30+. This is a good site on Nice...

    Where to stay in Nice

The Promenade runs all the way out to the airport so anywhere west of Ave Gambetta on the prom would be a bit away from the city centre.

    Where to stay in Nice

Eze is a different town, well worth seeing. I think Bono has a house there! In Nice anywhere in the city centre is probably good. There are a lot of apartments for rent along the Promenade des Anglais, Musciens Quarter and the old town and port area. The old town can be noisy and no lifts. The...

Nice Airport to local train station for onward travel.

There is another bus, I think its the 126 that covers a similar route as the 99. It leaves from Bay 6 at T1 and you would need to get off at the junction of Gambetta and Ave Theirs for Gare Central ( about 300m). It costs €1.50 and is slower with multiple stops. and runs less frequently. We...

Nice Airport to local train station for onward travel.

Ryanair fly into T1. The train station at St Augustin is about 15 minutes walk away and is difficult to find. It is a tiny station and I don't think many passengers arriving at Nice use it. Not all trains stop there as far as I know. There is a express bus (99)from the airport directly to the...

    Contesting a will

I think the parent's thinking might have been that the son that lived at home was taking on the responsibility of being the child they would be most dependant on if they did become ill or more dependant.

    Overseas Property Holiday lettings

The best rental sites vary depending on where your property is located and your target "renters". The site Laymyhat.com gives very good advise on how to establish the best sites for different areas/property types and is a very good forum for holiday rental owners. VRBO, Flipkey, Holiday...

Life How to decide how much life insurance you need?

I know it is not exact but I took out life insurance on the basis of three years earnings cover. So if you or your spouse earns 50K each, take out 150K insurance on each life. Its just a ball park figure to go on.

Can cowboy builder sue me if I sell his abandoned digger?

I'm no expert on law but I think I heard once that in a case similar to this that the owner of the land can claim ownership after a year and a day of the object been abandoned. So presumably after three years you should be ok.

    Long term parking Dublin Airport

I always use Long term Blue. I travel on the M50 northbound and turn off at the Naul exit. I think this is faster than taking the official airport route and makes up for being a bit away. Anyone agree or disagree?

    Removing old slates - Asbestos?

Considering building on to an old house built in 1940s. How should I dispose of the old slates? I think they may contain some asbestos but have been told its only dangerous it the slates are broken and dust is generated. Would I need specialists to do it? I have seen lots of old houses knocked...
