    Miele dishwasher warning light

It's probably just the water pressure is low. This used to happen on my Miele washingmachine - nothing wrong with the machine and I coudldn't do anything about the water pressure - just ignored it and clothes and machine were always fine.

My Cordyline australis (palm tree) has been damaged by the frosts. Can it be revived?

They were discussing this on gardeners world a few weeks ago. That smell is typical of the bacteria which have started to grow in the damaged fibers of the trunk as a result of frost damage. They suggested cutting it down to about four feet and giving it a year to see if new growth will appear.

The Late Late Show 30-4-2011: Paul Costello -v-Neil Delamere.

Vulgarity is what annoyed Paul Costello I think. He is not a snob - he has a very good range of quality homewares in Dunnes Stores.

    Dumping in our skip

My neighbour dumped an ironing board and other bulky stuff in my skip - I caught her red handed and asked her to remove it as I hadn't finished filling it. She had the nerve to say that she didn't know it was my skip ( it was on the grass verge outside my house) she removed the stuff...

Paint Flaking On My Concrete Pillars

There is a product you can buy which helps prevent this - it's like a primer - available in most paint shops. Then you should apply an undercoat and then the paint. This happened my sidewall and it was a big mess scraping off all the bubbled paint and applying the various layers. I think the...

Portable heater caused a burn? Are there rules governing this?

Well, maybe you had it on at max or something. Sure I know those radiators and they can get really hot - you just have to keep them at a lower temp. You'll also get a nasty burn from the outside of a kettle, some toasters, microwaved dishes, etc etc.

RTE- another brutal round of rubbish programmes

This was a ridiculous programme, not an ounce of humour or wit throughout the entire thing. Very boring and pointless.

Rats are digging under the concrete &have chewed through the top of the wavin manhole

True, Birroc, but we are talking here about one persons very specific problem with rats. I think what the poster meant was to keep the cat outdoors as much as possible in order to deter the rats from coming in to the garden. Rats are clever creatures and they will not come in if they know the risk.

Rats are digging under the concrete &have chewed through the top of the wavin manhole

I don't mean to frighten wino and Toby but there are some very scary videos on You Tube of rats coming up the toilet bowl. I doubt just closing the lid would suffice to keep them out if they did happen to stroll up. I would be putting something weighty on the closed lid if I had a substantial...
