    Motorway Driving

I think the biggest issue here with motorway driving is people not leaving proper gaps between vehicles. It should be easy for vehicles joining the motorway to slot between vehicles already on it, but most drivers here are way too close.

    New-build snagging disaster

How can they say the house is ready to snag when there's no water connected? You can't check any of the plumbing or heating for leaks or drips.

Banks should stop sending text messages

I had this the other day where I had a genuine text from AIB. It came from a number starting 086, so I presumed it was junk. It was only when the card was put on hold, and I got another message to call the number on the card that I checked on the phone number used, and found it was genuine.

    Women's World Cup

Has there been any official comment on it from any rugby governing body? Or even from Leinster?

Perhaps he lied to you about the price of the boiler

    Is Boris Finished?

If labour had dumped Corbyn, they would have stood a good chance of winning the last election.

    Is Boris Finished?

Boris is toxic for the forseeable future. The tories are probably unelectable at this point anyway, but bringing him back in any meaningful role right now would guarantee it even in 2 years time.

Key Post Why I am selling my 5 investment properties.

That is partly why I said it should be at the end of each tenancy. The real effect is that landlords have no option but to increase the rent at the maximum rate, or drop way below the market with no chance of ever getting back to parity. That doesn't exactly help good tenants who wouldn't...

Key Post Why I am selling my 5 investment properties.

That's one of my main issues with rent controls. It removes the flexibility from the relationship. Where there is a long-standing good relationship between the landlord and tenant, the landlord should be able to reward the tenant, by not increasing the rent. The issue is that that is then...

10% levy on concrete to fund defective homes redress

The issue is that the companies responsible for producing the defective materials should have been pursued, along with their insurers. It's not like they don't know who produced the dodgy concrete.

    Russian Foreign Policy

That's based on their definition of just and democratic, which don't necessarily bear much resemblance to the commonly accepted version.

Tenant running holistic therapy business without permission

How spiteful are you feeling. Is it worth taking a case against her with the RTB? You might get an award out of them, although very little chance of actually being paid. Upside might be she winds up on a list somewhere and has major difficulties renting elsewhere. Similarly, if she's removed...

Any suggestions for dealing with very long threads which go off topic, often pointlessly?

I'm not sure the best place to have the new reactions is behind a button labelled "Like". Is it possible to add another button, and have it trigger a notification to the mods when used?

Any suggestions for dealing with very long threads which go off topic, often pointlessly?

I think the easiest option is if users use the report post button. I've done it a few times where a thread was being derailed by a squabble. Other option as Steven Barrett suggests is a button that would actually show up in the thread without the user being sanctioned for back seat modding. Or...

    Architect plans way over budget

The price may be reasonable for what the architect has designed, but would you consider it reasonable of the architect to come up with plans that will cost nearly double the desired budget?

Comments on the hotel provided by Emirates are that it's not great, and also not in a good location for doing anything.

Crank shaft failure on a car with less than 10000km

My niece was looking to change her car last year. She was looking for a 2 year old mini until she found if she was prepared to wait, the price for a new mini was lower than a 2 year old one. She wasn't in a hurry to change, so waited and bought the new one.

    Passport application delays

I wouldn't be at all surprised these days at a member of the clergy not having a land line. There are a good few churches that don't have a parish secretary. It's not unusual for a minister to work primarily from home, and they might prefer to have a mobile rather than a landline.
