ARF Encashment - Tax Deducted at Source

Probate has been granted. Amongst the assets listed in the SA2 was an ARF. On encashment 30% tax was taken at source for transfer to the adult children beneficiaries and according to the ARF/pension provider because of this the ARF value is not subject to inheritance tax. How is this...

    Prep as Executor before Death

Hi homer911, I'm in a similar situation looking to get a grant of probate in the UK and Jersey. Do you mind me asking who did you use for the UK and Jersey grants and how much did they charge?

Cheers. I unlocked the phone but never opened the app. I must try again.

    Android Pay Launches in Ireland

It depends on your appetite for risk. For me the risk is quite manageable. It is arguably safer than contactless cards. Some mitigating factors: - I don't have NFC enabled on my phone unless I'm making a payment. If I'm going to use Android Pay I turn it on while I am in the queue. This...

    Android Pay Launches in Ireland

I've been using Android Pay since launch and find it very handy. Has anyone successfully used Android Pay for a transaction over €30? I've tried in Woodie's and Smiths but it didn't work.

    Sharewatch change to ODL Securities

I've had my cash & holdings moved to Saxobank successfully. Now however they are taking 10% tax off my dividends (I presume UK dividend withholding tax). They will not change this even though I am not tax resident in the UK and have directed me to one of their "partners" who will get me my tax...

Petition to wind up Dunnes Stores

Everyone is assuming that Dunnes can pay. It is not the only judgement/settlement that they are dodging. http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/0707/crosbie-business.html...

    Sharewatch change to ODL Securities

I had a similar problem Munsterbhoy. I was part of a DRIP and the shares were delivered to DSL after all my other holdings had been transferred. I emailed them without any useful response. Eventually I used the online chat to contact ODL and they liaised with DSL and I had the shares in my...

    EBook

A very important thing when choosing an e-reader is the range of books that you can buy. I've tried the Sony and it is a nice piece of kit that is easy to read from but the big drawback is the range of books that you can buy with it. You have to buy from WH Smith or Waterstones and the range...

    Sharewatch change to ODL Securities

I got a further reply from ODL. As an equities account your account is segregated. This means that all holdings in the account (cash and equity) form no part of ODL's Balance sheet or trading equity. We hold cash balances with either National Westminster Bank in London, or with Wachovia Bank...

    Sharewatch change to ODL Securities

As far as I know yes. Direct Share Deal are listed on the Euroclear website as someone who offer CREST personal membership (mind you so are Goodbodys).

    Sharewatch change to ODL Securities

I was in exactly the same boat. When Goodbodys moved away from CREST I moved to Sharewatch. It was a good decision, especially when AIB were in trouble and could have dragged Goodbodys down with them. The last thing I want is a receiver coming in and selling my holdings to pay the broker's...

    Sharewatch change to ODL Securities

The default option is "Transfer to ODL GROUP LIMITED to be held in the appropriate ODL GROUP LIMITED Account". Does this mean that my holdings will no longer be in CREST. If so is there any broker who still provides CREST accounts?

    www.currencyfair.com

There was a write up about these guys in the Examiner today. Seems like a good idea. Had a quick look and €1 will buy you £0.8525 compared to the spot rate of £0.854839 (from xe.com). This might improve if they get more registered users. I hope they can make it work, banks can be...

    Problems Depositing UK Cheque

I lodge sterling cheques to my AIB account fairly regularly and they are cleared within a couple of days. They always tell me that the cheque has to be sent to my own branch but it never takes more than a few days. These are usually dividend cheques. I don't know if this makes a difference.
