UK State pension - Am I class 2 or Class 3

I was rejected on my first application because I said I ceased self employment in April but only left the UK in August. This was over 20 years ago and I got my dates wrong. Have reapplied with some evidence that I actually worked up to that July. Fingers crossed the evidence is enough.

Goodbody and new asset protection regulations

I received the same letter. I was also concerned in the same way as earlier posters. I cant see how any of my holdings would need to be transferred to a third party outside of Ireland but I'm sure not consenting to it. When I phoned them up, they reassured me it wouldnt really affect me but...

Rent covers mortgage - who owns negative equity?

I doubt that the rent is generally lower than 75% of the mortgage interest payments almost 10 years into a mortgage.

Rent covers mortgage - who owns negative equity?

What about all the income tax due on the rent? No mention of that anywhere.

    Pay less for Accountant's Fee

I negotiated with my accountant this year and he dropped his fee by 25%. I am a sole trader. In return for this I have agreed to do all of the book keeping and present him with all my data in a far clearer fashion than I had been, thus his volume of work is reduced. Talk to your accountant....

Use Savings to Pay off Credit Union Loan?

Crazy in my view. Assuming 7% interest rate on your loan of 6000, you'll be paying about 800 in interest over the next 2 years that you dont need to pay. I'd rather the 800 euro.

    offset mortgage verus savings advice

To compensate for the 23% DIRT you would pay on the interest earned on your savings, you would have to earn over about 4.2% on the savings to profit from what you suggest. I'd say that is achievable if you shop around. I say go for it.

    Dental Benefits

All though a routine clean is supposed to be free (for PRSI qualified adults) every six months, a lot of dentists put a surcharge on it of 30 - 50 euro. Not all do though. Technically the dentist is in breach of his contract with the DSFA.

wedding cash gift - how much?

I'm not thinking how much I'll make. People will want to give something and I don't want or need anything. Thus I'll take cash or vouchers preferrably. If I receive art or a toaster or such like I'll smile and thank them I guess. I only hope I can do it convincingly. The friend is being...

wedding cash gift - how much?

The whole idea behind the wedding gift used to be to help the couple set up a home and a life together. These days people generally have their kettles and toasters etc and usually a home. I think these days one should aim to leave them start their married life without debts associated with the...
