Abandoned house - lender not interested

To be honest, I wouldn't know where to start. If you have any advice as to how to do do, I'd appreciate it. Although as a mother with 2 young children, a full time job and a long commute, time available outside work is limited and generally family oriented. My husband and another neighbour...

Abandoned house - lender not interested

Yes I called the council and because the estate has not been 'taken in charge', they say they cannot do anything. It is a large estate divided into different areas, and the final phase is not completed, nor will it be for a long time to come. It's very frustrating.

Abandoned house - lender not interested

There is an abandoned house in the same row as our home, the owners moved out about 2 years ago and it has fallen into disrepair. In what is a well kept area, it is now very obviously empty, garden overgrown, services disconnected etc. Last week, we arrived home to see 2 people taking a...

LPT: Exemptions for 'ghost estates': Unfinished Housing Developments sec 10.3 of Act.

I read at the time of the budget that the list would likely be the same as the household charge but have seen no mention of it since. I thought it would be confirmed by the time they sent letters out. Also for household charge, homeowners had to claim the exemption and may not have actually...

LPT: Exemptions for 'ghost estates': Unfinished Housing Developments sec 10.3 of Act.

The revenue guide contains a reference to exemption from LPT for those living in ghost estates on a list to be provided by the minister. No such list seems to be available on the site. No letter received from revenue yet. Is the ghost estate list available?

Finding details of case from 1997

Can someone please let me know if there is somewhere I can find details of an employment case from 1997? It is a well known case apparently, and is often referenced in judgements since then. It comes up frequently in a google search as part of other case details, but I cannot find full details...

Contracts signed, but can't get life cover

I got mortgage protection from Caledonian Life with some, but not excessive loading due to medical history. This was on advice from labrokers.ie (based in greystones) who talked me through my options on the phone.

    "Local needs" query.

In Louth, the local needs requirement is for the site to be within 4km of where your parents live, and you should have lived there with them for at least 10 years when growing up. You'll have to produce letters from local schools/parish priest etc to prove you are 'local'. Also, if you own a...

    Delays in processing JB claims?

My friend is being made redundant at the end of this week so will go next week to claim Jobseekers Benefit unless something comes up in the next few days for her. I saw a reference to 6 week delays in processing new claims on another thread - does anyone know if there are delays currently, and...

What should we do with savings?

Thanks, a 'play' fund was something we had considered with a view to experimenting in more risky experiments. We are talking a lot at the moment about plans for the future as you suggest. What I was really looking for was some interesting suggestions. What would you do if it was you?

    Paying 30k off mortgage

Thanks. I have found them to be quite inflexible on the phone i.e. this is the policy and you can like it or lump it. Would I save more in interest by using the 30k to reduce the monthly repayment and keeping term the same, or reducing the term?

Update: Bonus was paid at end Dec despite the the fact that I was working my notice at the time. There was nothing in contract about it but my boss said that all KPIs were achieved so he had no problem paying full amount.

Am I entitled to a Xmas bonus?

There is no specific wording in my contract about what happens when/if you leave. It just states that the bonus will be payable upon achievement of KPIs. These KPIs will have been achieved come end December so I'm presuming that I will be paid despite the fact that I will be working my notice at...

Am I entitled to a Xmas bonus?

In a slightly different scenario to the OP, I am ready to hand in my notice this week but have 3 months notice to work. So I will still be employed by the company when bonuses are payable at the end of Dec. Can they withhold from me?
