AIB Taking a High Court case

I’m completely happy to do this, I will go with whatever is best. I am also happy to help plan and organise in any way as I said in my original reply to Brendan’s suggestion that “One of you needs to take the lead on this and coordinate a group approach” We’re all fired up at the moment and I...

AIB Taking a High Court case

I’m happy to set up a gofundme page if people think that’s the best way to do this? And if so while I’m at it, I’m also happy to set up a separate gofundme page for anyone who’d like to give a contribution to Brendan for all his amazing work

AIB AIB Prevailing Rate refund calculator

I have all my interest rates and every exact date and had worked it out independently of your calculator (although your calculator was a great verifier) and what AIB issued me today is €4k under what I’m due!!!

AIB Taking a High Court case

Really valid points, and I can’t disagree with what you’re saying. I suppose I’m being a bit of an idealist!!! That’s your Trojan work on this case rubbing off on me Brendan!

AIB Taking a High Court case

This was something I would’ve been afraid of but still feel that a full strategy should be set out and agreed upon before people contribute. I don’t mean legal strategy but more what the group strategy is. I like your idea of setting up a committee. I think you could have the vast majority...

AIB Taking a High Court case

I have no great expertise either from a financial background or from a legal background but I’m happy to help out with planning and organising on this as much as I can. I too feel like this case deserves to go to court. Whether it wins or loses I really believe AIB need to be taken to task on...

AIB What the AIB Redress means to me

This one line really resonated with me because I think this was the problem from the start. None of us had the knowledge to fight and AIB took advantage of this. If it wasn’t for @Brendan Burgess who did have the knowledge to fight we wouldn’t be where we are today. And I also echo your “move...

AIB Press statement about AIB's implementation of the Ombudsman's decision in the Prevailing Rate issue

@Brendan Burgess did any media outlet pick up on the story? Wonder if it’s getting hidden by the mortgage interest story for the Covid Mortgage breaks?

AIB What the AIB Redress means to me

First I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Brendan, because without him this never would’ve happened nor would I have been kept so informed and up to date about everything that was going on. I took out my mortgage in 2008 and fixed for 3 years at a rate of 5.2%. 6 months later the market...

AIB My capital balance has been reduced!

Mine only says Capital Reduction, nothing about FSPO

AIB My capital balance has been reduced!

100% agree, absolutely disgraceful. If it wasn’t for Brendan and this site, I wouldn’t have had a clue what was going on. Plus if you didn’t know about the 12% calculation, the amount looks so random you’d be absolutely scratching your head about how that specific amount came off your account.

AIB My capital balance has been reduced!

We were just talking about this at home! Although, I'm not sure how many people keep an eye on their mortgage capital, I know I didn't prior to this. They'll probably get their first surprise when their monthly repayment is much less, or the compensation cheque arrives!!! Again Brendan, I...

AIB My capital balance has been reduced!

My July mortgage payment came out on 1st as usual and "Capital Reduction" (That's what it says on transaction description) happened today, 7th July.

AIB My capital balance has been reduced!

I came off my initial fixed term in early 2011. I was just thinking that they may also be doing it alphabetically, I'm a B so if it was alphabetically would make sense that I would be near the beginning. Again, just another guess?

AIB My capital balance has been reduced!

Clodagh, I got the initial cheque in March 2018. I know my calculations will be very straight forward as I've remained with AIB, never had arrears, nothing out of the ordinary etc, so maybe they are working through the straight forward cases first? I don't know, just a guess.

AIB My capital balance has been reduced!

I'm the same, exactly 12% off the capital from the date I came off my fixed term.

AIB AIB has accepted the Ombudsman's decision and will be rolling it out to 5,900 impacted customers

Email sent to Central Bank, generic automatic response received, will report back when I receive an actual response

AIB How can we make a donation to acknowledge the work on the prevailing rate campaign?

Fantastic idea and I would be very happy and willing to contribute. I think it's only right to be honest considering the trojan work Brendan has done between raising awareness, lobbying, providing simple step by step instructions for people to follow and the 24/7 advice and encouragement he has...
