I think there was a paper written by someone in CBI about alternatives. They looked at different countries and rules. I can’t find it at the mo. The conclusion was….their approach was the best. I post the paper once I find it.

I agree with Brendan. Unless you really can’t afford it I’d avoid the insurance claim. In my view an insurance claim is more of a “loan” than a simple payment as they’ll have it out of you with higher premiums over the coming years.

Presumably if you have a DC pension fund plus deferred db pension (pre 2014) it’s DC pot + DB x 20?
