    cost of car tax

I'm thankful that I can cycle to work most days, the only time I need the car is for college after work. Price of petrol, insurance and road tax have sky rocketed thanks to green taxes. I feel very sorry for people living in the commuter belt with no choice but to drive their cars.

    Dozens sympathise with sex offender

I have taken the post from thedaras and sent it to people in my address book. I am encouraging them to email the two addresses and forward the mail on as well. Maybe we can try and create an email chain to flood the addresses. I also think that sending an email is not pointless if it displays...

    Bus queues

I was on a flight home a few Friday's back and a flight attendant spotted a guy doing this. The flight attendant took the guy's bag from the over head locker and followed him down the plane and told him that his luggage must be over his head. I was shocked as I noramlly do the same as you and...

12,000 mortgages drawn down during Q2. Down 64% on last year

I found this and on the night of the census there were 174,000 unoccupied houses and 49,000 flats. [broken link removed] From looking at the survey methodology it seems that the 29,000 temporarily vacant were people in another house. So 174,000 homes with no-one home on a Sunday night is...

12,000 mortgages drawn down during Q2. Down 64% on last year

Any idea where this figure comes from? I have heard it before but I can't understand how it’s been worked out? Does that also include holiday homes, rentals, derelict houses, green spaces with approved planning, etc?

"Well, there's no recession on here"!

I'm not going to advertise it. It ain't hard to find if you google about the Irish economic slump and the causes of it. I found it with ease. :D

"Well, there's no recession on here"!

On the topic of Irish begrudery I am amazed by the popularity of websites that have appeared where Irish people post what seems to be their delight in the economic difficulties the country faces. One particular website in question seems to have been a spin-off from here. Do people really have...

Re: been approved mortgage; Negotation strategy for 4 bed in the Dublin 15 area new S Thought I'd fix that for you. :-) I read someone on here before saying that if you believe that the market will drop x% in the next few days, month, years then you should consider that in your bid...

How to set the zones on a HKC Alarm

Hi I want to figure out how to set the zones that I can inhibit when I set my alarm. I have no details on what zone is which window or door. Its a securewatch hkc. Is it possible to figure out the zones and then setup the partial set? I want to have a partial set for only the downstairs.

    should i buy now

Great explanation! Any chance that you could let me know how the graph was generated? Who created it and maybe a link to the original report from a website other than an internet forum?

    should i buy now

Could you explain that graph? It makes no sense to me. It shows the average price of a house in 1980 was £125k. I understand that people see house prices falling, but the idea that sellers have to drop their prices doesn't really make sense. I'd imagine most will just take their house off the...

    should i buy now

To be honest I was playing devil's advocate. I would love to see the ban lifted and a section like the one created for the April fools gag. My point was it is clear how the ban was justified in the first place from seeing how quickly this thread descended. As more and more people look to...

    should i buy now

I have to admit I can now see the reasons why the mod's closed this sort of thread in the first place. It has already started to descend into personal attacks. The real shame here is that when places like AAM can't discuss the matter in a balanced light people head to forums like the...

Wow, walked into that one. Very funny. I really liked the point about looking for sponsorship from the property sector. Haha.

Is there any law to stop an EA advertising a property at an unbelievably low price?

Re: Is there any law to stop an EA advertising a property at an unbelievably low pric I think this is an interesting point. There were a number of houses for sale close to me recently. I watched as they started to cut their asking price and out of 4 houses 3 are now off the market and were...

    Citywest

I can tell you. According to google maps, the edge of Belfry Green to Unit 5 Montpellier Walk (the post office) is 1.1km. From the roundabout at Magna to the shopping centre is 600m. On top of that the post office is at the edge of the Jobstown estate, close to the N81 Blessington road. So...
