I have a 13.3 inch HP Envy which I quite like. It's a few years old now though so there may better options for what you are looking for

I would expect rental income here refers to taxable rental profits rather than gross rental income

PTSB ending fee waivers on legacy current accounts - 47,000 affected

Another one stung with the 18 euro account closure fee here. Wouldn't expect any less from this lot. Worth it just to be rid of them

Trip to Manchester and Old Trafford

Hi. For tickets themselves I've used livefootballtickets a few times. You pay a premium but any time I've used tickets have come through fine. Personally, I love the mid week european knock out games. Great atmosphere/build up in the the city on matchday. Manchester is very easy to get around...

FYI Avant don’t do mortgage top ups.

Thanks. In case useful also when I refinanced with them at the start of last year they wouldn't agree to the term of the Avant loan being greater than the loan being refinanced.

Homeowner can't move back into her home because of eviction ban

And what happens when they run out of quasi letting arrangements to target? If family homes have a spare bedroom will there be a mandate that this is offered up too? The hole thing is beyond ridiculous. The government should get out of the way already with endless regulations making things more...

    Inflation of 7% for 2023?

Sustained increases in inflation and rising debt service costs grinding activity to a standstill business closures, more price controls, shortages, job losses, attempted bailouts resulting in a lack of confidence and debt crisis, social unrest, rise of extremists to power. Something on these...

    Inflation of 7% for 2023?

Agreed and we won't be alone in this predicament. The world is facing some very dark days ahead.

Any rumours will they tax landlords less than current full tax rate?

Hilarious that they say this and stand over rental income charged effectively at 40% in a company plus 55% when you take it out whereas trading income is 12.5% and 55% when taken out. Some other income must be more other income than others.

Switch to 22 year fixed rate or stay with 7 year fixed rate?

The value of money may be significantly lower in 7 years time also due to inflation. I'd be staying where I was if I were you

The impact of high inflation on how long you should fix for.

Copied from another thread where someone asked if they should fix for 7 years at 1.95% or 20 years at 2.5% - Brendan The value of money may be significantly lower in 7 years time also due to inflation. I'd be fixing for 7 years.

Euro Dollar parity and its effects

Also 1 thing which always strikes me as odd with the current system is how can any lender justify loaning money for 10 years etc at sub 2% when there is no chance inflation will average that or less over that period. I can understand they may be funded by deposits so cost of funds is low but...

Euro Dollar parity and its effects

Another question I think not unrealated to the conversation above is what does the weaponisation of currency via the seizure of foreign USD reserves mean for the current monetary world order as we know it. I suspect the Ukraine conflict is only part of a massive power struggle between the east...

Euro Dollar parity and its effects

My sense is central banks are hoping the inflation problem goes away on its own and the "aggressive" interest rate hikes and talk of quantitative tightnening and getting to neutral now are more about trying to do something to dampen future inflation when we are at who knows many times x on...

If the mortgage is paid off early due to my death, is there a break fee?

Hey everyone. Appreciate your thoughts on what the break cost position might be if say my wife and I jointly have a 20 year fixed mortgage and I die in year 10. Could the realisation of the life cover against the loan amount outstanding at the time give rise to a break cost? Thanks

Closing down company in most tax efficient way

What was the cost to the company of buying the property? Also, when did the company buy it and what was it used for? What does the company do? Does the company have any other assets or liabilities?

Leo Varadkar under fire for ECB interest rates remarks.

I have 2 mortgages. One in negative equity and one 70% LTV. I'd rather higher interest rates and quantitative tightening than to have to use the equivalent of a wheelbarrow full of money to pay for a pint of milk.

Leo Varadkar under fire for ECB interest rates remarks.

If inflation was just for the short term this would make sense. Unfortunately, I don't think its going to be so easy to reverse the direction of travel. Maintaining the status quo QE is only adding fuel to the fire. You are in a bad spot when politicians think giving away more free money to...
