Post 1995 Garda Retiree & PRSI Returning to work PRSI

My understanding is that you can "sign off" the supplementary payment process during periods where you work. In my job, there could be short term work like interview panels etc... that if I am paid for would impact on the Suplementary Pension. If it was removed altogether that would be serious...

    Post 1995 Supplementary pension query

My understanding is that the Supplementary pension and pension should be recalculated when there is a change of rate to ensure you are getting the same as a D rate pensioner with the same service.

    HSE not transferring service

Great result and well done all that helped. I just have a query, one of the posters mentioned that the hours per week was important. I would have expected it would be a straight forward figure and that the contracted hours would not matter one the person was doing 100% of the role and the...

    Are civil service pensions funded?

Just wondering in the private sector does the pension fund have any residual value that can be passed on as part of the estate. I pay a widows and orphans contribution and if I predecease my wife she will get 50% of my pension for life, once she doesn't remarry. If I had children, they would...

    Are civil service pensions funded?

If it is a co-ordinated pension, which would apply to all civil and public servants since mid 90's. In the example above, The Public Servant if coordinated would get a state pension of aprox 14K If the Public Servant had full service, they would get a pension of 50% thats 35K. Of that 14K...

Why is lump sum payment for notional service more expensive than annual payment?

https://assets.gov.ie/14921/e4b49cdbb311495e83adb6cec8ac0bab.pdf The above document and its appendices give the calculation for lump sum AVC contributions. If you know the amount paid, the amount of years purchased and your age when purchased you should be able to reverse it back to find out...

The third option which may not be realistic is to get a promotion in the years before you retire. You need to be in the post for 3 years to get the full benefit of the promotion. Some posts may have progression to a higher grade if you meet certain criteria, in higher education, an assistant...

No Statutory Declaration on Notice to Quit.

My friend is a long term tenant in the property. So the notice period is a long time. If the landlord tries to enforce the original notice where does this leave my friend. Should he request the statutory declaration. And does this reset the clock. The landlord would know the RTB will not...

HI, A friend of mine got a notice to quit his tenancy in writing, but it did not include the statutory declaration. The landlord was looking for the property for an immediate family member. Advice on Professional Added Years

A further update. The Department of education will only take an application within 6 months of a "Confirmed" retirement date. The employer in the forms is not the IoT / TU where I have worked for over 20 years, its the department, so when they talk about the employer approval / decisions these...

    Post 1995 Supplementary pension query

So the issue is that someone would have to be denied Job Seekers and then not get the supplementary pension and be at a monetary loss. There are probably other cases where someone is getting less than the equivalent person getting the non-coordinated pension.
