If you have no claim = €100 Premium Saving If you have a Claim = €150 Additional Cost less €100 Premium Saving = €50 Net Additional Cost If you have a Loss between €250 and €500 you lose the option of Claiming = But probably wouldn't have claimed anyway Looks like a simple enough decision. Not...

Are Legal Fees for switching a rental property mortgage tax deductible

I can't find info on this on the Revenue Web-Site. Are you sure it's not allowed? If a % of Mortgage Interest is Allowable, is it not logical that Fees to give a net reduction in this cost over time, are also allowable?

Should I Switch and Fix although might be moving house in the medium term?

Thanks for reply - We have 10 of 30 years paid on AIB Mortgage. For new house, I have €20k savings but we'd also be selling the current house to have approx. €100k equity.

Should I Switch and Fix although might be moving house in the medium term?

Our House is worth €285k / €290k and there is approx. €220k balance due on Mortgage. We are currently on AIB Standard Rate of 3.15% (I think). There is a chance that we could move house in the next year or 2 if the right house comes up for sale - Nothing suitable has come up in the past 2 years...

Defence forces to get 28.5% pay rise

Bomb disposal is the only truly risky operation, and even at that I'm sure that most callouts were to science rooms in schools, and bomb disposal is probably only a handful of army personnel. I see the Irish Army as grown men playing around in the hills, spinning up and down the road, playing...

Paying for everything with other people's money

Same for me - But there would be a mile-long queue of Trade Unions looking for pay increases. So we'd see more expensive current level of services rather than expanded services. I hate the phrase Pay Restoration - Restoration to a proven unsustainable level should not be a target. Of course...

    Buying a Site

We have 20 years left on current mortgage - House Value approx. €275k, Outstanding Mortgage approx. €225k. Due to growing family, we would like to upsize. It was a more medium term plan with nothing much in place yet, but a site in perfect location has just come on the market. (It's advertised...

Monitored Alarm System - Auto Enrollment in 12 month contract

There was no change to the equipment but I have an older/basic phonewatch panel from 10 years ago. - It might be different for more modern systems. There was a €40 callout fee for the switching.

Monitored Alarm System - Auto Enrollment in 12 month contract

I switched to Clare Alarms. No issue with taking over the monitoring - Has same certifications etc. for insurance.

Monitored Alarm System - Auto Enrollment in 12 month contract

I had been paying monthly direct debits to this company for almost 10 years with several price increases (especially in the past few years since they were taken over). But the final straw was an e-mail I received on 10th April with the subject line 'Service & Maintenance - More cover, More...
