Hi all,

I'm going to Egypt in a few weeks. Could anyone tell me where I can order some Egyptian pounds before I go.

I tried the AIB this morning and they don't stock the currency.

Thanks in advance

Just use the ATM Machines when you arrive - decent ATM Network in Egypt - easy to pull out Egyptian Pounds on Cirrus / Credit Cards etc.

Bring a little € cash that you can change to get you started in case there's no functioning ATM at the airport and you need cash

Egyptian Pounds are hard (impossible?) to get outside Egypt - not worth the hassle .. and even if you could get them I'm sure you'd pay some terrible exchange rate / commission fee etc.

Did you ask them to order them in for you? My local BOI will order in any currency, you just have to give them advance warning and the total that you want.

bring some us dollars just in case. You need to buy visitors stamp in airport before exit so you ll need them for that. The is atm before passport control

if you plan to visit any of the tourist spots, valley of the kings, queens, luxor temple etc, then it would be advisable to bring a lot of loose change - 50c and €1 coins for tips. it is very easy to change money in the banks in luxor and a good rate.

i bought some egyptian pounds on ebay from a dealer before hand, 300 it was not much but it arrived in 300 single pounds, handy for bundling together for tips

you do need i think 15 dollars us for a visa just straight after you get off the plane, the reps come over and offer them, its a bit confusing but you get there, this 15 is per person
