Hello, I live in an apartment complex and of late the vans and trucks parking here have become bigger and bigger.

The lease states " light commercial vehicles " can park in the complex.

I am trying to find out how a light commercial vehicle would have been defined back in 2000 when the lease was prepared.

I have trying searching on line but failed to find any information.

Unless the lease actually defines what it regards as a light commercial vehicle, or refers to a source for the definition to be used, you may be limited to the current understanding. The current classifications were brought into Irish law in 2013 in response to an EU directive to streamline licensing categories across the EU. I'm not sure if there were other changes prior to that, but this suggests category B definitions did not change.

Unfortunately our lease does not include a definition of a light commercial vehicle. I would have expected it to be contained in the glossary of definitions however it is not.

I'd say what the rules envisage was the fiesta car van type vehicle, and what you are getting is ford transits.
I'd call them both light commercials, but obviously there's a world of difference.
Sloppy drafting of the rules can come back and bite you.

Nope. Light commercial vehicle has always meant pretty much what it says on the tin.

Thank you MOB. Great image- not sure about the yellow wheels

VRT- do you think if you were importing these back then then there would have been a different rate for each ?
