My wife had a one day per week job up to Dec 2016.She was let go and applied for and got a small amount for Jobseekers benefit. However I had been getting contributory pension and was getting extra for my wife as an adult dependent. It now transpires that the Dept are seeking to recover the amount paid, as they maintain that we were getting two payments and this is not allowed.Apparently, the "dependent" element is considered as a payment but surely this is a payment to me and not tomy wife ?

The extra Dependant payment is made on the basis that your spouse is financially dependent on you. It is a payment to her. An individual cannot received two State payments. So if you/your wife are getting the Adult Dependant additional payment, she cannot claim Jobseekers as well.

If I quit my job in April and have to wait 9 weeks to get jobseekers benefit it would be July when I get payment, this payment is based on my 2017 income, and would last for 9 months, so it's 6 months to the end of 2018, and 3 months into the new new 2019, my question is does the payment date applied in july 2018 remain the same for the 3 months in 2019
