I'm out of the loop as have not been job hunting in a few years. Need a change now though and have recently updated my CV.

Next step is to contact recruitment agencies. My question is who are the best in Dublin in your opinion?

Financial services sector.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

What part of the FS industry are you after ?

Is it junior level, mid level, upper level roles, professionally qualified or just experienced etc. ?

You may well find that you are better off monitoring companies directly yourself (many of the larger FS companies have their own careers section on their websites where you can register for notifications, or they advertise through Linkedin, so you can follow them and apply for roles directly when they are advertised). In other situations, roles will never be openly advertised and will be filled by word of mouth.

Contacting directly is the best but Harvey Nash and Brightwater have a good network with Fin Services that might be useful.

Most recruiters seem to spend their lives on Linkedin, congratulating either themselves or their colleagues (for managing to tie their own shoe laces, or something else equally as impressive and irrelevant to what they are supposed to be doing).

I'm starting to think that in order to be a recruitment agent, you need suffer from narcissism

Ha. I was thinking of the articles about "The candidate came in, cried, farted and looked like a scruff. I hired him on the spot and now he's my number one employee so don't just hire somebody who's qualified and able to do the job".

But that aside, I've found LinkedIn to be brilliant once you weed out the posts from those idiots. If your profile is up to date and has all your roles keywords then you'll appear in their searches and they'll contact you. Plus you can search for roles that suit you and get an alert when somebody enters one that's suitable.
