Hello,

For family reasons I reduced my working week from full time to working 3 days part-time. Am I entitled to any benefits for the 2 days I chose not to work. I am 58 and have been working as a PAYE worker for 35+ years. I am not seeking work for the 2 days.

Thanks for any help.

You are not entitled to any additional payment if you voluntarily reduced your hours and are not seeking work.

Hey Daddy Ireland, from the Citizens Infirmationot website 'If you retire early, for whatever reason, you may be entitled to Jobseeker's Benefit and later to Jobseeker's Allowance'. Not sure if that helps.

Thanks for the replies. I will enquire further into retire early for whatever reason one may be entitled to JB.

But you haven't retired, you are still working even if for less hours, you could have applied for jobseekers benefit if your hours had been cut i.e. not a voluntary decision on your part. FIS as pointed out is an option if you have dependents. Other than that I can't think of anything you could get payment wise, call into Citizens Info and see if they have any suggestions.
