Post/deliver clothing to Thailand.

I have a friend living part of the year in Thailand and when he's home does a clothing and footwear collection from regular friends and neighbors to bring back with him to Thailand. Originally it was just an extra suitcase, then a few large boxes. Last year he sent eight very large boxes (fridge size) by An Post and it cost him a fortune.
Has anyone got any other ideas of getting the stuff to Thailand cheaper? He would ideally love to share part of a container. Anyone know of anyone with space on such or be able to put him in touch with someone?
The clothes go to northern Thailand where it gets very cold/freezing in the winter. He brought us (my DH and I) up there last year and if I thought I'd seen poverty, I'd really seen it there. But smiles all round and happy for anything that we could give.

Contact any shipping company and ask them about groupage.

There is also a school of thought that sending goods to developing countries in this way undermining the local economy.

You'd likely buy all those clothes and more locally for what the shipping costs to send them from here.

An Post use Air service for all international shipments, so they will always be expensive for such large boxes.

As above, any freight company will do it at a much better rate.
