My post count is reduced

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that my post count has been reduced by a few hundred recently (even in the last few hours maybe?)

Am I mistaken or has anything unusual happened?

I think that Brendan and some other moderators may have been pruning old/outdated threads so deleting some of these could have impacted some users' post counts.

Update - yes I think my post count has similarly been affected.

Why does it matter?
Users with more posts tend to be identified by n00bs as being more experienced or trustworthy users when giving advice.

If everyone had 1 post (displayed in the counter), who would a newbie trust?

I would reconsider deleting content, no matter how old.
If laws change, older material may be pointless holding on to etc..

This would 1) Clean up the site making the archive(s) easier to navigate and 2) Save bandwidth/diskspace on the server.

Yes, I am the culprit.

I did a tidy up of the Askaboutbusiness forum and deleted a lot of posts.

After that, I reset the counters, so ClubMan is down to 32,000 odd.

It only matters if someone has fewer than 50 posts. It will take them longer to achieve Frequent Poster status.

All the posts were over 365 days old, so it won't affect recent posters in any way.

A lot were posts with no replies. Huge amounts of duplicates.

The benefit is that searching using a search engine or using the archives is a lot easier.

You read the advice and trust which makes the most sense.

Ignore the post count. (its not a for sale forum)

You should be able to now that you have 51+ posts. The system may not upgrade you to Regular Poster immediately. There may be a short time lag before the relevant script gets run. Mind your head.
