Two litres of milk price increase/Dunnes?

Dunnes brand own rice pouches, they cost less than a €.

The wholegrain version of those Dunnes rice is nicer than other brands even Uncle Ben's one. They used to be only 58 cent but have lost track of price with everything going up constantly.

I'm not a big rice fan and hate cooking it because I don't seem to be able to get it right. So I've a big stock of the Dunnes vrand own rice pouches, they cost less than a €.
Highly recommend the Joseph Joseph Microwave Rice Cooker. Makes perfect, fluffy rice every time and no mess.

We have dropped one of our €5 off Dunnes Vouchers. We are just running with one at the moment. Plenty of meat in our freezer, so we will just eat our way through this. We will struggle to even spend the €25 in this weeks shop. A box of oranges will be the main purchase this week, the rest will be mainly staples and a few fillers.

My strategy in Dunnes is to bring a 'reserve' item with a long date like a bag of coffee in case I'm short. I can leave it if I've reached the voucher limit.
Also, I try to pick a checkout that has chewing gum beside it, just in case.

Yes they grand. 69c cent I think, they were less than 50c a few months ago.

The brown net type bag are nice Oranges. They were about €6.

I use one of these all the time for cooking rice and it's perfect every time.

1 cup of rice & 1 cup of water. 12 mins in the microwave, job done

Edit:
I see it's pretty much the same one as arbitron's post above - didn't see that post!

Just on the milk. I find Dunnes own-brand, organic milk really nice & creamy. It's 1.39 a litre but with the discount it's only 1.12.

Why would anyone pay for branded milk??? Milk comes from a cow and is processed in a co-op. It is the same product!!

That may well be the case but speaking from a large milk consuming family we have found that the milk from Tesco, Lidl and Aldi definitely goes off a lot quicker than Dunnes own brand despite being kept under the same conditions.

Whatever about milk I feel some of the supermarkets keep their fridges at possibly the upper limit of whatever the required temperature is, particularly noticeable around Christmas as I like to buy a turkey that is very cold obviously and it's very obvious that Lidl/Aldi especially have much warmer birds!

I have left them there in previous years and gone to Dunnes or butchers who had much colder ones, this year though due to several reasons I had just one shopping trip to Lidl to do it all and again the meat was not as cold as I would like, I bought it anyway as no option and kept in a second fridge I have for overflow which is kept very cold.

Mentioned it previously to family member who is an electrician and his answer was can you imagine the savings if all supermarkets in a chain turned up their thermostats by even 1 degree! That was even before the recent energy rises, I did mention it the first time it happened to the manager but sure they don't really care.

Agree
Not all milk is the same. Different levels of bacteria.
More bacteria means it goes off quicker despite pasturisation.
I notice some shops consistently have a shorter dated milk..
For me, Centra own brand is the the best of all branded/non-branded and also has the longest life, but Dunnes not bad either

I'd put Supervalu in at #1 at same level as Avonmore, and I expect Centra and Supervalu have the same actual product as they are part Musgraves group. And at 35c cheaper per 1l carton they win on price.

Today in Dunnes I spent €30 and used my €5 off voucher. I had a few other items on my list that I could have bought but didn't, these will be left until I next use my €5 off voucher.

However......we decided to call in to the nearby Lidl and have a look at their Italiamo selection on the way home. We ended up spending €75. (€25 of this on a garden fork)

The €25 or €50 spend to get the €10 and €5 vouchers in Dunnes, keeps me only spending that amount.

Yet, I don't restrict myself in Tesco or Lidl.

While I understand what you are saying I don't fully agree with you here, we keep 3 Dunnes vouchers on the go, 2 €10 off €50 and a €5 off €25
The €5 off €25 last a week but the €10 off €50 have a 2 week expiry date so we are able to leap frog that one as we need it
so while we keep our shopping to multiplies of €25 it doesn't restrict our overall shopping spend and if needed we can spend up to €125

Was very proud of Mrs C the other day at the checkout when she hit the "Dunnes Jackpot", A €50 shop on the nose, even the cashier commented "we don't see that very often, well done":D

I got to €25.01 the other day. Did a little dance. I've found the FB page very good. I got 2 vouchers. I've put a few €10 on it.

Yes, we only found out recently that you don't need the actual paper voucher to claim the discount that a photo of a voucher will suffice
And it's the same with the digital vouchers on the app, their not tied to the card and can be shared by photo as well

We will have a €25 shop this week. Probably only three items to buy. Atlantic Bay prawns, bread and milk and we are sorted. An in and out job.

Might even treat ourselves to the full Irish in Cornelscourt for about €6........a browse at their summer clothes for an upcoming holiday to Spain.

We got their €1 Easter Eggs last week.....now €1.50.

Our lot is simple....but happy.....lots of people not having it so easy.
