I have amazon prime and recently bought a large bin, which i now want to return.

Rather than haul huge bin to local post office, are there other optikns? Could someone come to collect (based in Dublin)?

Also, do I need to pay for shipping on return? Used to be free but I think brexit changed that any help appreciated

While not as large as a bin, I recently had to return an item and got stung for €9 postage.

I'm also a Prime member, living in Dublin.

Unfortunitely, I don't think there's an option, which is particularly frustrating when you've got another item due for delivery a day or two later, and could easily give the return item to the delivery driver.

It's lucky dip, but for some items they refund you without obliging you to make the return.

You don't find this out until you've started the returns process.

If you do have to return it you generally have to pay postage if you've just changed your mind. If you do claim any kind of defect then Amazon pays the postage.

I've never had any claim of a defect challenged. I think most returns go straight to recycling.

Any chance you paid by paypal? You can get refunded a certain number of returns per year, procedure to follow though so look it up first. I found that out from somebody here couple of years ago, must useful info! I have used it few times a year since and never buy anything that does not have free returns without paypal.

Just start the returns process. As indicated by NoRegretsCoyote, they may just refund you. Twice or thrice I've had a refund without any return. You can always just not proceed if return postage is prohibitive.

For some items I start the returns process straight away unless I'm fully sure I want to keep it. You then have the voucher for postage straight away and I think 30 days to actually bring it to the post office. If you don't return it you don't get the refund.

I'm not sure if there is a hard expiry. I've brought stuff to the post office past the thirty day window and I always get the refund.

I returned a dehumidifier recently (it was faulty) - I just printed out a prepaid returns label and dropped it to the local PO.

You can drop it to a delivery office or even ask your postie to take it - assuming it has the returns label on it.

Great thanks for the info. Unfortunately I did not use paypal, but rather revolut.
This is a large bulky item.. would post office be best bet for retirn? Doesnt need to be express or anything. Or might there be a delivery company that could collect?

If its a relatively expensive item, make store you get evidence that you've returned it - I ran into that idiot with Amazon on a previous occasion

I need to cover costs for return of this item -- I checked some on line and the cost is higher than the value of the actual item however I don't need any type of express service.

I've looked at An Post returns page and Amazon are not listed (only Amazon recycling which is very specific). Can I just use the regular parcel postage from An Post and fill in the company details ? That's coming in at 32 euro for insurance and tracking.

REally don't fancy rocking up to the post office with a big big only to be told they won't take it or that it will costs colossal money - if I just print enter the dimensions/weight in the parcel service should that be ok ? Any further info appreciated !

Have you tried to contact Amazon customer service?

I presume this is just going to Amazon returns in portlaoise?
If so, DPD have a great service. €12.85 or €14 for collection. 20kg.

As above, have you initiated the request to return the item?

You can't just send stuff back, you have to submit a request for authorisation at which point they will generate a return label confirming the address the item needs to be returned to. Go in to your order history, find the item and click the 'Return Item' button and follow the instructions. It sounds like the item isn't faulty or damaged and so you will need to decide whether you can find a return option that makes financial sense.
