Flogas.....Gift Card

I switched my Gas provider to Flogas. I was given a €20 Gift Card as part of the switching process to be collected from Gift House. Flogas said that in order to claim I just had to log in to GiftHouse and enter my code.
I logged in but in order to proceed I was required to register with GiftHouse. After doing this I was then asked for a €2.49 admin fee if I wanted to purchase a gift card for one of the major supermarkets.

Has anyone else been through this process.

Edit. Just discovered that you can use the full €20 on the GiftHouse website.....except for retail gift cards, where there is a small admin fee.

It's a good offer from Flogas, available by going direct to Flogas to sign up, rather than through a 3rd party.

Worth highlighting for anyone considering buying a Gift House voucher - it's within their terms & conditions!! It looks unusual that a company would apply a service charge to redeem their own vouchers?.

15. GIFT CARDS
(a) RETAIL GIFT CARDS
Retail gift cards are sent within 3 business days via email once order has been placed. All retail gift cards are subject to a service charge of €2.49 per purchase.

edit: see later post from @SoylentGreen - this only applies to purchasing retail gift cards, and applies regardless of payment method.

Edit. I just discovered thanks to Soylent Green that you get the full €20 from Flogas. If you opt to purchase a retail gift card from the website than there is an admin charge to cover postage etc.

They offer you a €20 gift card
  1. Flogas will email you the instruction on how to claim your free Gifthouse voucher on expiration of your cooling off period where you will be issued with a voucher code to redeem your voucher.

You get your gift voucher from Flogas emailed to you. This can be used to purchase items from the GiftHouse website. There is no fee for this.

www.gifthouse.ie

However, if you want to purchase a retail gift card voucher from a retail outlet such as Dunnes Stores then this will be posted to you, hence the admin fee.

You don't have to use the €20 from Flogas, all in one go on the GiftHouse website. You basically register your €20 and spend it in bits and pieces.

For example, you lodge the €20 from Flogas. Then order a €10 GiftHouse voucher for Dunnes Stores through the site, this will leave €10 less the €2.49 fee, to spend on another item from the website later, or just purchase an item for €10 from the site and leave the other €10 to spend at a later date.

So, there is only an admin fee when buying a retail gift card.

Yes. A lot of companies are now offering good deals plus a little bit extra for booking/purchasing direct. I have found this in the past when booking hotel stays. I think Flogas might be the only company doing this in the home energy area.

I have just switched to them by going direct and I am looking forward to spending my €20 on the Gifthouse website. Nice to get a freebie now and again.

Yes, it is very easy. The company that is working with Flogas will need your address to post you your retail gift card. Hence the admin fee. You don't have to pay any fee to purchase other items from their site.

I have used my Flogas voucher but still have my account open with the gifthouse website. They have a menu of items to select from and you don't have to use your voucher all at the same time. The balance is held as a credit on your account for future purchases.

It's a good idea during these lockdown times....

After doing this I was then asked for a €2.49 admin fee if I wanted to purchase a gift card for one of the major supermarkets.
Yes that is correct. But you only have to pay this fee if you are purchasing one of their advertised retail gift cards. This fee does not apply to other items purchased from the site.

My contract with Flogas ended recently. I was pleased to see that I could switch to another of their low cost plans as an existing customer and qualify for one of their GiftHouse vouchers.

Does anyone know if the supermarket vouchers are posted from the supermarket or from GiftHouse?

I was disappointed that I could only purchase my chosen Dunnes Stores Gift Card from the gift site in denominations of €10, despite being able to purchase them from Dunnes Stores for any amount.

I applied for a Dunnes Stores gift card through the Gift House website. This was sent to me direct from Dunnes Stores by email. There was a Gift House charge of €2.49 for this. If you order an eGift Card direct from Dunnes there is nil charge.

Sorry to jump on this post but are these contracts with flogas for bulk LPG.? My contract was up with flogas so I rung them to see if there was any loyalty bonus to continue. They weren't very amenable on the phone. I ended up switching to calor. It was an extremely easy process and the deal i got with calor was 1000 litres free
