The baby and the bathwater

I recommend reading it too. But I suspect not for the same reasons as you.

Its reads, as a patronising tantrum of a commentator that is figuring out that they have lost control of the narrative, oblivious to the reality that they have lost the narrative a long time ago.
That said, its important to state that the IRA, all paramilitaries and the armed forces of the British state, are a cancer on Irish society.
The brutality of their actions should never been forgotten and the pursuit of justice for all innocent victims and their families should be pursued.

But the article above, and more like it, are juvenile at best, a desperate attempt to hanker for relevance at worst.

In the same week that SF were accused of providing cover for the perpetrators of the grotesque murder of Paul Quinn, and Conor Murphy being called upon to tell PSNI what he knows about it, a High Court judge in NI berated the PSNI for not disclosing what the police know about the grotesque murders of the Miami Showband massacre.

All these victims deserve justice, no more no less than any others.

Its obvious to me the contradictory position of some using the Paul Quinn murder and alleged cover-up by SF to protect IRA members as reason why they are unfit for government, but simultaneously push for SF to support the PSNI as the legal authority to investigate such crimes. The very sam police organisation that is accused by a High Court judge of withholding information into the investigation of the murder of others.

This is all part of the complexity and legacy of a prolonged brutal conflict. We can all spend the night and day accusing, blaming, in fits of 'whataboutery' till the end of time, or, we can try move to a place where the legacy of the conflict, while never forgotten or ignored, is not allowed to be used as a tool to patronize, scare-monger, or sow further resentment.

The political landscape is far from perfect, but the cut and thrust of social and economic issues is what matters for the populous at large.
The legacy of the conflict is also important, it is a subject that I study closely. Any commentary that is prepared to offer articulate, reasoned argument on any aspect of the conflict , from any side, from any perspective, has to be welcomed.

The article above is hashbag, patronising, diatribe of a narrative that has long run its course.

Eillis O Hanlon, Eoghan Harris, Ruth Dudley Edwards et al, should move on. They offer nothing constructive now.
They would be minded to dig out Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are a Changin' " and give it a good listen.

The election is over and the people have spoken. There is no point in rehashing the election again. Some of us on the forum pointed out before polling day the futility of fanatical pleas by the likes of Eoghan Harris (The Angel of Conscience). The people, especially who were ripped off by still paying USC, those supporting those who cannot afford a home of their own, those supporting people who were homelessness, the fear of the vulture funds, etc. It is now time to listen to the majority rather than the minorities.

SINN FÉIN LEADER Mary Lou McDonald has said she will be asking the European Union to support Irish reunification if she is part of the next government.

Whoever now makes up the next government, those preparations need to start. And could I also say those on the island of Britain and in London in particular need to start preparing because constitutional change is coming.

“I think it would be correct for our allies and our friends for anybody who cares about this country and our people, it is plain to see that partition and division has been a disaster, and that reunification, reconciliation and good relationships with our next door neighbours is the way forward.”

Didn't seem to have been top of their agenda before the election......

You're joking but maybe it's time to re-register and pay for a VPN ;)

Why would they go after you? You and some other AAM members (along with Eoghan Harris) did Sinn Féin favours they could only dream about. They'll sign you up as a recruiting agent. Imagine An Phoblacht with Purple's own page and in colour.

Why? Because they are run my child killers. I don't trust them to act within the law since they have a long history of acting outside it.

Imagine SF having access to the sensitive material in the departments of Defence and Justice. All the state's information about the IRA at their fingertips.......

Soon you won't have to imagine it; they'll have it.

Long live the Revolution!!! (please don't hurt me!)

Apparently all the schools will now start the day by pledging allegiance to the flag before learning about the heroic freedom fighters who blew up innocent children and killed Gardaí while robbing banks... Then they will tell the kids a funny story about how the Gardaí are now expected to work for a party in Government when a sitting TD from that party actually goes to meet the killers of Guards when they are released from prison. Oh how they will laugh......They will then learn how the silly man who just got elected shouting up the Ra was just tired and emotional....

I recently watched The Man in the High Castle on Amazon Prime. I don't know why but I keep thinking about it.

Senior Fianna Fáil figures said they would allow Sinn Féin to form a government with the other left-wing parties.

"If they want Venezuela or whatever let them go off and put it together," a senior source said, before adding: "We won't be helping them."

Hear hear

Micheál's last act as FF leader could be to do a Hindenburg 87 years and one month after Hindenburg did a Hindenburg. :D

From Firefly's link;
"The ard chomhairle meeting was attended by a number of senior figures in Sinn Féin who are based in Northern Ireland, including former leader Gerry Adams, deputy leader Michelle O'Neill, party chairman Declan Kearney and the North's Finance Minister Conor Murphy."

Conor Murphy is part of the Army Council, sorry, ard chomhairle, so if anyone who disagrees with the Shinners happens to gets murdered it will probably be because they are in fact a criminal.

I don't think it is top of their agenda after the election either - forming a program for government would be with prospective coalition partners.
But you would need to be living as an absolute hermit in a non-English speaking country to not know it is high on their agenda - permanently.

I would wager many of the first time SF voters haven't joined the dots between a United Ireland being high on the agenda and the costs of that/political energy involved v's also having money available for the likes of housing, health, child care etc and the time Politicians need to spend focusing on these areas
