Has anyone checked their credit rating on the Central Credit Register

I have started the procedure just now.

https://www.centralcreditregister.ie/

I must say it is very badly designed. It is not at all intuitive.

There doesn't seem to be a simple button which takes you in logical steps.

1) Eventually you find a button to submit a request - you fill in the information

It has a crazy Captcha which made me try at least 6 times.

2) After that you have to "check your request" to upload documents.
Another captcha but it worked first time this time.

Why does it not just go in logical stages and all done as part of the one engagement?

I have been given no indication of how long it will take.

I am just checking to see did I miss something.

1) click on https://www.centralcreditregister.ie/

Click on Submit a REquest and you come to

What happens next?

The first thing is Identification Documents, so maybe I will click on that.
That brings you to another screen
Individual or non-individual
Click on Individual - and nothing happens...
So maybe try again, and nothing happens
Then it dawns on you - it has downloaded a PDF .
REad that but that is not helping me to submit a request
Close out of the PDF and go back to where I was.
Click On Credit Report.

- that seems to be an information page.
More stuff about ID documents and then a fact sheet and yet more stuff on ID documents.

Eventually I scroll down to the end of that page I find what I was looking for...

I click on New Request to find the page that I should have been able to jump to from the Home Page

Why would you call the Upload Documents section "Check My Request"?

Reading that now for this post , I see

It asked me to upload "your signed application form". I have no idea what this is. I wasn't asked for it anywhere. Do they mean the form I filled in online?

I will just give up and hope my CCR is ok.

Brendan

Agree with you - It is poorly laid out.

in relation to:

t asked me to upload "your signed application form". I have no idea what this is. I wasn't asked for it anywhere. Do they mean the form I filled in online?

There is a pop up window once you fill in the form with your personal details, which may be "blocked" by your browser. If you clicked that you want to get the form by email, it should be emailed to you too, so can get the form there. Also, on the page titled
"Nearly there… You have successfully created your request with the Central Credit Register" - there is a button to download application form, which is just a form of the information that you filled in, which must be signed and uploaded with the relevant documentation to prove you are who you are. As part of that documentation, I love the part "We cannot accept the public service card as proof of PPSN or identity."

I didn't get or notice any of that.

My browser does block pop up windows. Surely they should not be used in website design for something like this?

I did it yes. Submitted on 4th April and received the report on the 6th.

Agree the wording was a bit funny but I’m used to poorly designed government websites

I think there was an option to email them the attachment (App form, ID etc.) if you were having trouble uploading.

Essentially it’s a two stage process. Stage 1 being filling out online application form. Stage two is signed app form, ID and proof of PPS and addesss either uploaded or emailed.

As per Spider any, took a few goes with personal identification issues but got it in the end. It goes back further than I thought. Gives a debt picture and payments made

Yeah, poor design alright. I was also asked multiple times for documents I'd already uploaded.

Brendan asked me to try it and I also thought it was awful.
I won't go into the details because there are so many issues.
Not all "government" sites are that bad.
CitizensInfo (admittedly basically static content) is OK.
So is Revenue myAccount - slightly quirky in some cases but overall relatively starightforward and easy to use and far better than some commercial (e.g. household utility, insurance etc.) sites that I've used.

I did it, got my report within 36 hours. Found two incorrect reports from 2 diff institutions.
Went through amend process for one of the incorrect accounts and uploaded my docs to support my position. They confirmed that I would get a response in 20 to 40 days. Within 7, I got a response from CCR saying Cabot had accepted my amendment and my report had been updated correctly. Pretty good, I thought.

I've done the same with PTSB a few days ago and no word back yet from them.

I submitted request and received reply fairly promptly . Agree that website is poor. In my case, a mortgage I had recently closed still appeared on the report as owing. I submitted to the CCR to have this corrected and they refused my request and told me to speak to the bank itself.

I wouldn't blame the CCR for that, they can only remove it from the record after the bank has done their part.

So I got an email from them telling me to read the attached document (Not sure why it could not be simply in the body of the email)

It's not at all obvious to me what a REquest Form is. But from some of the earlier answers here, I realise that it's an application form.

So I went back in and "check application" and found how to print my application form, but I knew what I was looking for.

I tried getting a report now, and nothing is happening. I am using Google chrome on my Note mobile phone.

Is it better to print the form and post it? Do we need to post any personal document ?
The site definitely needs to be more friendly .

It's badly designed, lacks information for certain types of financial products and it probably cost a small fortune, no one will ever be held to account for it ... Ireland strikes again ! :(

Is there somewhere that people can submit complaints about it's functionality etc ?

OK, so on 10 April, I applied correctly for my report and got it this evening by email.

The report is well laid out.

There are 4 items - all with AIB

My mortgage, my current account which has an overdraft limit with a record of how I have used it, and my credit card.

But the 4th item is a credit card I was not aware of. I took it out on 1 Jan 1997 . It has no credit limit or outstanding balance.
The numbers mean nothing to me. (But then neither do the numbers on my other credit card either.)

The other interesting thing on the report is the Footprint at the end.

I feel unloved. No one is checking up on me.
