Hi

I have recently been granted probate on my late fathers estate.

His estate is in Ireland but I am based in England and have had to make several journeys to Ireland to check on things, sign papers etc. Can I deduct these expenses from the estate value? Does anyone know where I can read about what else is deductible?

I am the sole beneficiary.

Thank you

Are you sure you're the only beneficiary, I seem to remember you looking for inheritance advice before?

Well I say I’m the only beneficiary but to be absolutely clear my Mum who was originally the sole benefactor ( divorced from my father) disclaimed her right to the inheritance for a consideration of E 15075( her threshold amount). So then my brother and I were beneficiaries, my brother disclaimed his right for a consideration of E 43,000 ( his remaining threshold amount as he had already been gifted a site. It’s been 5 years since my father died and taken a long time to get probate through.
