Ulster Former First Active now Ulster Bank Customer

Absolutely heartbroken, we are over a yearcdeemed impacted, just called the helpline to be told that there is nothing new to report on my case. Most of the cases will be sorted by the end of July but A small number of cases will go on longer. In tears here.

Following on from an email I sent at the end of last week, I also got a call this morning to confirm that I am impacted.

I’ve spent just over 9 years fighting my case.
Thank you all on here for your support on this forum over this difficult process; hopefully an end is soon in sight.

Thanks all. Similar timescales to those outlined to @Milo4444, should have letter in a month with redress & comp to follow. No interest rate info available yet (all details being checked+++ as per processes)

Despite signing the same documents as the posters who have received there trackers back , Ulster bank have told me I am not impacted.I rang central bank today and asked them why this was and was told it's up to Ulster bank and that I should go to the obudsman for the second time.

@Manus12, I saw your other post also - did the same person inform you that you were not impacted, or was it someone else?

I would suggest querying it further with UB to confirm in writing one way or another.

While those of us who contacted the oireachtas conmittee received a call from Ulster Bank, I would take it that many/most other former First Active customers in the same position vis a vis fixed rate documents did not, and are still awaiting notification of whether they are “impacted”.

From the call I received, I understand that a letter should be coming out to some former First Active customers in a few weeks. This letter will be formal confirmation of what we have been advised and possibly the first contact for others.

It was someone else but I tried to bring it up in today's conversation but was told it had nothing to with what we were discussing and I wasn't appreciating the way she was conducting the conversation. There are definitely up to some thing !

Good morning

Iv just woke up and checked my mortgage account, there is a deposit of 13150 and then a withdrawal of 8738. I can’t believe there’s any movement as I’d actually given up!
I’ve no idea what these figures mean but at this stage I don’t even care .... the ordeal is over. I’m actually crying with relief.
I really want to say a big thank you to everyone on here that has supported and answered my questions over the last year.
But most of all thank you to the guys who fought for us behind the scenes to get what was wrongfully taken from us in the first place.

You can't go to the ombudsman for a second time, with the same complaint. Its very easy for the banks to give customers who have already failed with the ombudsman, a not impacted status in central bank tracker review, as those customers have no way of appealing that decision.

Technically correct. However, @Manus12 you should appeal the bank's decision not to return your tracker mortgage as part of the Examination project to the Ombudsman. You are perfectly entitled to bring that to appeal and the Ombudsman has said that they will review cases which they have previously adjudicated upon.

That's not the information I've gotten from the ombudsman, there may be a slight chance that they'll look at it again if some new evidence comes to light, but they won't adjudicate on the same grounds as the previous complaint.

The poster should send their complaint to the ombudsman anyway, and take it from there.

Yes but it's not the same complaint - it's appealing their decision as part of the tracker examination - which is a separate complaint.
And I do agree they won't reopen a previous complaint, even if new evidence comes to light as @notabene has discovered.

The new evidence should be that the bank have been overcharging you for years.... trust me!

Hi there..just wondering if there is anyone who was deemed impacted since year still waiting for redress or are we the only ones...so frustrating !!

I’ve been deemed impacted last may was promised would be resolved by end of June this year still nothing and they didn’t even bother to tell me how or why there is delay also rang today and advised may not be end of July now it could be weeks so frustrated
