Ulster Former First Active now Ulster Bank Customer

What about the former FA customers there must be more than 200 of those or are they a seperate number?

No idea I just called the bank and was informed that the CB has put no time limit on the review and there are no timescales in place. Very frustrating but I don't see what else we can do other than sit it out. They have all of the power.

Called the helpline today and was told that the bulk of the letters have gone and there will only be a few more in the coming weeks but they weren't expecting to find that many more. They said that there would have been no distinction made between FA and UB loans, they were reviewing all from 2001 to 2015 but couldn't tell me anymore. Feeling depressed.

I don't know which I'm feeling more, anger or despair. I'm sick of how we have been treated. I had held my council while this review was ongoing but yet another payment of (I reckon) over €400 more than I should be paying per month went out today.

I'm drafting a raft of letters now to Aodhan ferriter, gerry Mallon, the central bank, my td and the Finance committee.

Next week will be 10 years since I fixed and 8 years since I came off fixed rate, I have been fighting this long for my tracker rate AS AGREED WHEN I FIXED and I'm not giving up now.

Have you considered paying the amount you believe to be correct and taking it from there.

Agree it's very slow and can wear you down. Stay the course, and don't allow it get you down, difficult and all that may be.

I'd be surprised if they don't return former FA customers as these seem to be the ones that the central bank are taking enforcement action against IB

I hope your right, well we're all in the same boat just going to keep up the weekly calls and hope for the best.

I don't I presume that we all fixed and when period was over were not offered tracker at prevailing rate?? I was told this is not an option at this time and reverted to variable. Perhaps this is the sticking point for UB with these mortgages. Got a tracker at the same time on the top up that started as fixed!!

Hi guys I am also a former FA customer now with UB.
Long story short in 2011 I was offered a one time only offer by UB to go on to a tracker after my 3 year fixed rate at 6.15 % ended.i took it at ecb plus 2.8% fixed.
Prior to this one originally started out my mortgage in 2004 and in 2006 the starting interest rate ended. FA only offered me fixed rates otherwise I would automatically transfer to their variable rate no offer of tracker. I chose fixed for 2 years at 4.59% after this ended in 2008 I was affected the same again only fixed of I would transfer to their variable. I chose 3 year fixed at 6.15%.

In 2006 and 2008 should u have been offered the tracker rate? Do I have a case ... I'm so confused.
As stated above I did get a letter in 2011 offering me a 1 time only offer to go back onto the tracker plus fixed but not prior to this.

What did your original loan offer say? Was it initially a 2 yr fixed, if so what was it to roll on to at the end of that time, the loan offer should say. If it was a 2 yr discounted variable it should also say how much the discount was but this would be off the variable rate, there wouldn't be a discounted rate off a tracker. There was no obligation on FA to offer you a tracker when your existing deal finished unless it was on your original documentation. Had you ever been on a tracker even between fixed periods then there might be some justification depending on what your paperwork said but if you never had one then I don't think you have any case.

FA did not necessarily offer trackers as an option when fixed ended, more often they just offered them to existing customers randomly at different times. Lists of customers to contact would be sent out and they would be contacted and offered trackers or fixed depending on what was on offer.
