Working with fused glass...

Hi all - a piece of large fused glass wall art met its demise over the weekend, as seen here:
http://www.art-collection.co.uk/html/for_the_wall.html

Its was a beautiful piece so I am very reluctant to bin it. Was thinking of illuminating it from behind by either way of wall and light fixtures or assembling salvagable pieces around a box lamp. (thought of setting bits into a glass top coffee table too).

Advice needed on the following please:
(a) How would I 'soften' the sharp and jagged edges (is there an extremely fine sandpaper that might take the lethal edge off it?) or some other method?
(b) Can anyone recommend a glue strong enough to hold the glass without leaving a residual glue stain from behind when illuminated.

Any advice and / or suggestions welcome.. amny thanks.

Please don't threads.

Unfortunately I doubt you will be able to bond the glass back together in a manner in which the joints will be invisible. The differences in refractive index of the glass and bonding substance will mean the cracks will still be visible.

Maybe experiment with some plain glass and a two-part epoxy resin adhesive and see how this looks after being stuck back together.
