Will it pass NCT?

Hi Guys,

That's Opel Astra 1999. Everything's fine, very good cond and clean. There's only slight leak (damp) on the Power Steering Rack. There is no need to repair it now because it is not taking the fluid and I can drive 2-3 years anyway. But must be NCTed. How do you think - will it pass or fail?

I think they may fail.

Same thing came up on my dads renauly 19 a few years ago.

He had to get the rack changed.

I would say top up everything and go for it and hope for the best.
 
you can get a leak stopper its an additive you add to the power steering fluid. never used it but have seen it in Calbro a motorstore in Galway. ask in your local motorstore they should be able to help you
 
You will probably fail but if you are too late to cancel without a cancellation fee, there would be no harm in having the NCT and finding out what else is wrong and even then the power steering issue may not be a problem and you could pass
 
Leak stopper doesn't work. Get an old cloth and clean the rack. A bit of elbow grease removing the evidence and you should be ok.
