which focus tdci?

200cc and 5 bhp :D

Seriously they are very different engines. 1.6 is a 16v all alloy block and head. 1.8 is an 8v iron block. They are both 2nd generation common rail diesels.

Ford only offer the 1.8 currently, as the 1.6 has been discontinued afaik.

The ultra economy Focus ECOnetic model will have the 1.6. Not available yet.

I thought the 1.6 tdci was available here?

The new 1.8 tdci (115bhp) is vastly superior to the new 1.6 diesel (90 bhp)?

Is it also much better than the 1.6 tdci which is available in UK?

Is the Zetec a better option than the Ghia? The ghia options seem to be geared to someone who does a lot of motorway driving.

Nope. 1.6TDCI has been discontinued.

Vastly superior in power ok. 115bhp vs 90bhp. It's an older basic unit but is well up to it. Is it better than the 110bhp 1.6? Arguable.

Zetec is the best option imho.

Yes it is, and appears to be a zero cost option.

Would still be a UK import though, with a mph speedo, and may therefore be trickier sell on or trade in later.

You can buy a Focus Ghia 1.8 TDCi 115 ps with co 139 (€ 150 car tax) for €1550 LESS than a Focus ghia 1.6 petrol 115 ps with co 157 (€430 car tax)

Seems like no contest?

Anyone know why the 1.6tdci is not being sold in Ireland any more? seems like a great motor.
