Transfer existing pension to new occupational scheme?

Hi,

I am asking on behalf of my girlfriend here. She has an occupational (defined contribution) pension with her old employer and she has the option to either leave it there or transfer it over to her new employers scheme (also a defined contribution one).

Is there any particular reason not to transfer it over? Leaving aside possible differences in fund performance and fees is there anything she should consider?

Thanks
A

Not as such, the only possible negative that I can think of is that the new or indeed old scheme raised their retirement age. I would advise in the majority of cases (not all as personal circumstances maybe different) to invest in a Buy Out Bond which gets around this possible change. A BOB can be taken as pension benefits at age 50 instead of normal retirement age.
