Tax year to claim rent relief

Hi All

Does anyone know if it makes any difference what year you claim tax relief on rental accomadation for? If the place was rented from 06 to 08 can you claim relief for any one of 06,07 or 08?

I'm assuming you are the tenant and you want to claim relief on the rent you have paid? If thats the case you are entitled to relief for every year. So you should claim for 06 & 07 and you will get a cheque. For 08 the relief will be applied to your tax credits.
 
Thanks for your answer bigchicken. So what I should do is put all three years on the tax relief form? Correct?

That should do it but they might want you to fill out 3 separate forms. I don't think that would be necessary though if it has been the same landlord.

Maybe give revenue a call to be sure?
