SEAI one stop shop / use existing contractor

Hi,

New user here. We are considering a retrofit to our family home - a 4-bed semi-d. The house was built in the 50s or 60s and we renovated and extended in 2009. We've never been happy with the results and because of the bad experience, I'm very wary of trying to engage contractors on a piece by piece basis.

Has anyone got experience of using a One Stop Shop e.g. Electric Ireland or one of the other energy companies?
We would look at: New boiler or ATW heat pump, attic insulation, external insulation on the old part of the house, probable replacement of windows and front door.

I would love to get a recommendation for a company in Cork city, but if that's against the rules of the forum, I understand completely.

Thanks!
Cards on table, I have been doing independent heat loss surveys successfully for nearly 2 decades now. In my world, it is vital to know what is at issue first before embarking on expensive works. In the majority of cases, the main issues do not necessarily need to cost a kings ransom to sort out. The BER system of rating is not up to scratch to do this. My advice is to be very beware of OSS's and their promises.

Completely agree, we did the initial survey via an OSS and it was a really negative experience. Their staff did not understand the end to end solution of what they were talking about, one guy was obsessed with windows, another with heat pumps. Ended up going with local providers for external wrap, solar and heating controls, working out around 10k cheaper then the OSS and just required a little project and contractor management from ourselves.
