If Sale and Leaseback works so well for companies why not for individuals?
Today's press details how Eircom have agreed a sale and lease back arrangement with Derek Quinlan for their new premises beside Heuston Station. This comes on the back of similar deals struck by AIB and BOI for example.
For example, are rent payments for companies tax deductible? (versus the paltry €330 rent relief an individual receives).
I'm trying to figure if our preference for owning our homes is purely a historical obsession of Irish people or is there sound reasoning behind the decision to own rather than rent..... bearing in mind how many Germans and French, for example, never buy homes, they rent all their lives.
