We've a holiday home since the end of 2006 which we've used ourselves but decided this year to rent it out for the first time. Usually rental properties need to be registered with the PTRB and I've read that failure to register means that a landlord cannot claim mortgage interest as an allowable expense for income tax purposes. Does this apply to a holiday home which is rented for short term lets only ie. weekly?
