Quick question:
My wife was made redundant approximately 2 years ago and claimed Jobseekers Allowance based on her PRSI contributions. This ran for approximately 14 months as she started working for 1 or 2 days a week for the last few months which extended the JA coverage.

Her JA was eventually cutoff and she isn't entitled to JB due to my salary etc.

She has been working 2 days a week, and her latest P60 shows 52 weeks A0 PRSI contributions.
Based on these A0 contributions, would she be entitled to start claiming JA again for the remainder of each week ?

I think you are confusing JA with JB.

  • JB is based on PRSI contributions
  • JA is means tested and is available to those who have insufficient contributions.
If she were applying for JB at present her application would be based on the contribution year 2008. As she appears to have been made redundant in that year she may not have enough contributions in the relevant year.

She should apply anyhow as SW will have a full record and will make their decision based on her contribution record
