I am getting a new kitchen, originally i had tiles on floor then 12 yrs later put a floating wooden floor, now thinking I go back to tiles, Question, as kitchen floor is higher than sitting room & hall, I take it I need to remove the current floating floor when I removing the old kitchen floor? Then put new tiles over the old tiles that would be a nitemare to remove.

You definitely should not put tiles onto the floating floors, the flexibility of the wood will cause the tiles and grout to crack in no time. You even see this in upstairs bathrooms where the wooden floor is much more stable than your floating floor would be.

I wouldn’t rule out taking up the old tiles, particularly if it will improve the levels between rooms. Your tiler/builder will get them whipped out in no time, it’s really not a big deal for them.
