Removing gas box from external wall.

My gas box is affixed to the front exterior wall of my house because the previous owners installed a door to enclose the porch. However as we're going to remove this door thereby making the porch open again I'd like to move the gas box inside the porch so it's still accessible to the gas man but not such an eyesore. Is this possible to do and if so is it a very expensive job? We've builders coming in December so might add that to the list of requirements for them.

You'll effectively be looking at a new connection as far as Bord Gais are concerned, as the existing mains will have to be extended, this entails a disruption to the mains supply and might be a messy business in terms of paperwork and dealing with the Bord.
