Hi we just got refused a mortgage due to gambling activity on my partners account. He had a BOI account and it was BOI that refused us. There hasnt been any gambling for the past 6 months but they still said no. I was wondering what our options are in getting a mortgage somewhere else. Do banks generally just ask for 6 months bank statements and if so maybe we could apply somewhere else??
 
Any bank would take an extremely dim view of gambling. Your best bet would be to gather six months bank statements free of gambling evidence of any sort before approaching another bank.

AiB require 6 months bank statements for accounts not held by them. I dont know about other banks, however if you google individual banks mortgage approval critetia you should be able to find out.
 
How confident are you that the gambling is a thing of the past. There is probably a good reason why banks don't lend to people with gambling activity on their accounts.
