Hi,

I started working a Public Sector job in July. I was told by a colleague I would be able to claim back my pension related deduction at the end of the tax year. Is this true?

The first €15k is exempt per year. However, once you hit €288.46 a week on a payroll deductions kick in. If you didn't earn €15k in the employment for the year you will be due a full refund as the first €15k annually is exempt for the PRD. Same applies if you leave employment not having earned the €15k. If you're still employed, the payroll system should really automatically issue the refund.

I wasn't aware of that. Thanks.
