HI,
I have an extension with an old leaky flat roof. I think I will now bite the bullet and put on a proper pitch roof (insulated) with velux windows.

Can anyone recommend a good roofer who does a good job for a reasonable price?

Many thanks as always

Ella

Tony Mcgill 0872044960,he did a great job changing my brothers garage to an extension from flat roof to pitch with two velux windows. His wife was delighted and she is so picky it must be good.

buildcon in Clonsilla, specialise in Roofing, they put an excellent copper roof on our extension, the bulk of their work at the moment is in maintenance and repairs.

Would anyone care to recommend someone reliable to carry out a small repair on our roof, Balbriggan area. Regards nsb

Can anyone recommend a roofer for a smallish job on single story extension in the Dublin 14 area. The job consists of removing approx 4m x 4 rows of concrete tiles, replacing underlay, adjust fascia (cut off a few mm) so water on underlay runs freely into gutter, replace tiles and recement sides of same.

My only requirements are that they:
A - Turn up. (Like a lot of trades the recession does not seem to affect roofers!)
B - Do a quality job.
C - Charge a good/fair price.

BTW has anyone used 'Tony' does be do south Dublin and does he fulfill A, B & C?

Just used Tony McGill to fix a leak on our roof that our builder didn't finish properly. Would recommend him.

Nice guy, turned up when he said he would, fixed it promptly, charged very fair price and was upfront about different options, costs etc.

We are in south dublin city.

Called Tony last week and he said he would call over to my place over the week end to take a look. He didn't. Nor did he phone me.

Last week I also contacted an Electrician to do an Electricial job. He said he would call me on Saturday to take a look. He didnt call either!

Hard to believe...but true !

try Eddie at Buildcon, they did a great job on our house and have recommended him to 2 further friends who where happy with their work 087 810 3078

We need to get flashing and refelting done on our flat roof. The quote we got was for €600 for a 20 square metre area. Does this seem a fair price?

I have also enquired about putting an extra layer of insulation on the roof (50mm board) which would involve fitting a second layer of felt, including the flashing. For this we were quoted €1200.

Do these quotes seem reasonable?

Roofer was recommended. His name is also Tony but he has a different number from the Tony named above!?

Anyone know if these recommendations are still valid?

I need a small section of the felt under the tiles of a valley in the roof repaired/replaced. The felt has perished and a small amount of water is occasionaly getting into the attic. As far as I can see, the tiles are ok, but I'd like to check them all too.

It's a small 1940's house in Dalkey

Dublin Roofer?

I'll try resurrect this once more...

Can anyone recommend a good roofer (Dublin Southside)?

Spear,

There is a recommendation for these people elsewhere on AAM and I used them myself many moons ago and they were excellent. I think they are still in business but not 100% sure:

"These people are very good D. Coakley Ltd, (01)8476264 or (086)2511411. Did my roof some time ago and no problems since. They are not cheap but then I don't think any proper roofers are probably because of their high insurance costs."

Hello,

We did not have a good experience, with Abbey Roofing, Donneybrook a couple of years ago ...

Regards

Mr. Earl.

I have used Gavin Redmond (AAA Act-Fast Roofing) on a few occasions and would recommend him 456 1195 / 087 051 9078. No connection; just a vary satisfied customer.

Thank you all for your contributions. I decided not to contact D. Coakley as a previous poster inferred they were expensive. I'll share my experience:

Initially, before posting on this site, I surfed around and then came across Richard Stapleton who was recommended on a thread on a different website. I found his quote extremely expensive and would caution anyone who is thinking of using him to benchmark against other quotes first before proceeding with him (I have to reason to doubt the quality of his work, however).

I decided to use Tradesmen.ie in the end. I found the website service excellent. It automatically organises 4 contacts for you and from those contacts you can seek quotes. I sought quotes from three. In the end, I went with Daniel Ballenger (0858330321/014424294/[email protected]). He was competitive on cost compared to the other quotes, but one of the main reasons I picked him was that he was reliable and professional. For example he volunteered to show me his insurance certificates when the subject of insurance came up, he set his arrival time by his SatNav and he always answered his phone.

How did it go with your roofer. I need a job done myself and would love to know if you had a good experience.

Daniel Ballenger was very professional, punctual and reliable. His cost also seemed fair. I recommended him since to a colleague and she was also very happy with him.

North Dublin, need to replace roof (including membrane, timbers fine!) and build a party wall to one side only, also looking to have double glazed windows put in an old terraced house, any recommendations for a competent trustworthy tradesman who can do all this, don't want different contractor. Thank you.
