As a potential landlord interested in the scheme, have a few questions that people might possible clear up for me.Basically, it’s the same relationship you’d have with a regular tenant found via DAFT.ie etc. Except there is security in terms of guaranteed income from the local authority?
Concerns are
1. You are still liable/need to come out and fix something if it stops working.
2. The longer term agreements council were involved in are no longer available, so could they dramatically reduce the payment to the landlord further down the line?
3. House insurance, how hard will it be to get or how much more will it cost if you rent your place out under the scheme?
4. If there is a difficult with the tenant/anti-social behaviour will the local authority likely address it?
5. Does the local authority look after management fees?
And in terms of taxes etc, am I liable for the existing property tax?
Also, I take it the contract part is (or I would hope) fairly sizeable?
Any good/bad experiences on the part of landlords?
