On foot of a circuit court judgement being entered against me by a financial institution I received a letter from their solicitor asking that I fill out a statement of means - which apparently needs to be returned to them within 7 days.

I'm wondering does anyone know if this is the preliminary step towards obtaining an installment order and if this is so, is it possible to reach an agreement with their solicitor avoiding an installment oder if I could reach a settlement with them independently of the local district court?
 
Yes that appears to be the case, although instalment proceedings have probably not yet commenced. You would be well advised to contact the solicitor as otherwise a further Court hearing is likely.
