PRSA Anomaly Removed

The Finance Bill 2015 has addressed the PRSA anomaly which has been in existence since the Finance Act 2012. Employer contributions to a PRSA will no longer attract a Universal Social Charge (USC) for the employee. PRSA's will now be treated in the same manner as Occupational Pension Schemes where employer contributions do not attract a USC liability for the employee. (IAPF)

The there are two parts to the PRSA anomaly. 1 the different USC treatment referred to above and 2. the inconsistent treatment of the employer contributions when applying the age related contribution limit. It looks as though this is the usual half assed effort which addresses the former but not the latter. On this basis I'll be giving them half a vote in the forthcoming election.
