Hope to be building new house within the year. Have looked at a number of houses with concrete floor upstairs.
Where two concrete sections join I notice a solid block is on the flat. The concrete slabs seem to sit on a solid on side ie 4" on outer walls. These blocks sit on damp course membrane.
I do not know much about building but would it not be a much better job to have all supporting block on the flat to avoid settling cracks etc.
Also does the use of concrete and screed to second floor cause any more cracking etc when all settles down?
