Phoning Ireland from Asia

Hi everyone,

I'm travelling in China at the moment (lucky me!!). Just wanted to know if anyone who has been here before has any tips regarding phoning home. Payphones only accept coins (the biggest coin is worth 10c so thats not going to work), I bought an international phonecard which wont let me phone Ireland and hotel phone bills are crippling me. Have asked around for a call-shop but no-one here seems to have a clue what I'm on about.

I know this is a long-shot but any suggestions?

Eircom used to have an 'Ireland Direct' service which allowed you to make a freefone call from anywhere in the world back to Ireland and charge it to your home Eircom bill. It wasn't cheap, but it would get over your coin problem. I can't find any mention of this on their website - perhaps it has changed name? [Or perhaps they dropped it given the developments in the mobile market].
