paternity leave for father

I am becoming a father in September. I am a PAYE employee. Am I entitled to any paternity leave under Irish law. Is it paid or unpaid leave? Are there any other benefits for new fathers ?

No paternity leave - though you are entitled to unpaid parental leave (8 weeks over the first five years, I think) to be taken by arrangement with your employer.

Thanks for the quick replies. Thats a pity. I heard that they get 6 months paid in Sweden.
