Would be interested in the opinions of those who are knowledgeable on such things:

I left the car in today (01 A6) to have a new "regulator" fitted to fix the driver's side electric window which had become stuck. I understood from the mechanic who checked it out last week and diagnosed the problem that the part might be around 60eur and that it would take an hour to 75 mins to fit. Unfortunately I made the mistake of accepting this without getting a formal quote. I was therefore quite shocked today to be charged 303 eur for the job. The rounded breakdown, inc vat as follows:

Parts:
Regulator = 146 eur
Rivet = 2 eur

Labour = 155eur

Can anyone tell me is this a reasonable price for what was done?

Thats probably 1-1.5 hours labour at main dealer prices. Its alot ot be paying for a "small" job on a 01 but not excessive for a main dealer with large overheads...
