Newborn cover under VHI

Hi there

quick question. I know under VHI cover for newborn I can add my son to my cover for free until policy renewal...

what way does this actually work ? He was born mid October 2014. My policy renewed 1st November 2014. is this tough luck i.e. i only get 2 weeks cover for him ?

or is it from when I inform them I require the cover to start from ? e.g. today until end November 2015 ?

It is tough luck, but you will only get the two weeks cover, unless you can convince them otherwise.
