MIR when trading up

Does anyone know if MIR is extended if you trade up.

My MIR is due to end next year but we are thinking of trading up. If we trade up would our MIR be extended beyond 2016 for our new mortgage.

Looked up the Citizens Information site and it looks like MIR will be abolished totally after Dec 31 2017. It also says anyone purchasing after 2012 is not entitled but not sure if that includes those trading up post 2012 and who currently receive MIR. Can I at least continue receiving MIR until Dec 2017.

Your entitlement to MIR will come to an end on the earlier of (a) the redemption of your current mortgage; (b) the property ceasing to be your PPR; or (c) 31 December 2017.

You cannot "transfer" your entitlement to a new mortgage.
